Born & grown up in Chicago, Illinois, the third largely populous city in the United States, Pat Sajak’s birth name is said to be Patrick Leonard Sajdak. His Polish American birth father was a foreman in a trucking company. Pat’s mother, Joyce later got married to her second husband, Walter Backal, who later took good care of Pat & his mother. In the year 1964, Pat earned his graduation degree from the Farragut High School, & then studied at the Columbia College Chicago. During his college days, he continued a part time job of a desk operator at hotel Palmer House. In 1979, Pat was wedded to Sherril, his first wife, with whom his marriage lasted till 1986. After few years, in 1989, he got hitched with Lesly Brown Sajak, a successful photographer. The couple together has 2 children, a daughter named Maggie Marie Sajak (b. 5th January, 1955) & a son named Patrick Michael James Sajak (b. 22nd September, 1990).

Doing the initial jobs in the radio as well as military field, Pat Sajak eventually came on screen through the radio station’s TV sister, WSMC (previously WSM- TV). There he first appeared as a narration artist doing station classifications & anchoring the 5 minutes news bulletin during ‘Today Show’ on NBC, next as a substitute & weekend weather forecaster, where he got a chance to be au fait with Dan Miller, a well known anchor. In 1997, Pat accepted a job for weatherman from the KNBC- TV, located at Los Angeles, & soon started working as a full time employee. From the year 1983 to 1989, he started working as host for the both the syndicated evenings & day time (NBC) versions of a U.S. game show ‘Wheel of Fortune’ & went on to host its later version. Earning a wide recognition through Wheel, Pat as wel hosted several other television shows & programs, including CBS’s The Pat Sajak Show (January 1989- April 1990), FOX’s Pat Sajak Weekend (2003) & as well guest hosted the programs like ‘Larry King Live’, ‘Live with Regis & Kelly’ & some others. Moreover, this television personality has also portrayed a little role in ‘Airplane II: The Sequel’, a 1982 comedy movie. In 1993, Pat emerged as himself on ‘Rugrats’, a popular kids cartoon show.

On top of his television works, since 2010, Pat Sajak has started writing for a semimonthly magazine ‘National Review Online’.
