Richard Ashcroft is the single child among 3 children born to his parents’, Frank Ashcroft & Louise (nee Baxter), on 11th September, 1971. His mother was formally a hair-dresser whereas father was an office employee. His childhood passed in his birth land of Billinge Higher End, Wigan, England along with his 2 smaller sisters. At the age of 11, Richard faced his father’s death due to sudden brain hemorrhage. His mother later remarried a Rosicrucians man. As a young boy, he went to the Upholland High School, & later studied at the Winstanley College. At present, Richard is wedded to his long time sweetheart, Kate Radley, since 1995. They share 2 sons together, Sonny & Cassius Ashcroft, born on 23rd March, 2000 & in the year 2004, respectively. The entire family resides in Herefordshire’s Ledbury.

At the age of 19, in 1990, Richard Ashcroft launched “The Verve” (formally just Verve”, jointly with Salisbury, Jones & McCabe. After earning some recognition for their musical & drugs appetite, the group disbanded after 5 years. Behind a couple of years, “The Verve” reformed, airing a very successful collection “Urban Hymns” in 1997. In 2008 August, the band split for the 3rd time; however the announcement was made the following year. He made his solo debut in the year 2000, releasing his original single entitled “A Song for the Lovers”, which was traced by “Money to Burn”, his 2nd solo single & the very first solo collection “Alone with Everybody”. Later at age 31, Richard came out with his second album entitled “Human Conditions” (2002), spawned by the lead “Check the Meaning”. To date, he has liberated further 2 solo albums, namely “Keys to the World” & “United Nations of Sound”, in 2006 & 2010, respectively. These 2 collections, were released after Richard launched an innovative band, called “RPA & The United Nations of Sound”. In the year 2006, he too made his EP debut under the title “Live from London”. Moreover, he has also made his guest appearances in further albums of ‘UNKLE’ & ‘The Chemical Brothers’.

Richard Ashcroft is too fascinated towards sports, & cites himself to be an avid fan of Manchester United. Though the artist had been involved in different controversies, he has frequently succeeded maintaining career flame. Earning a huge fan followings throughout the globe, Richard has also been honored with different prestigious awards & accolades. He was even praised as “the best singer in the world” by the Coldplay’s lead Chris Martin.
